For the Institute of Data Science Foundations of the Hamburg University of Technology for the earliest possible date, we are looking for a:

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (m/f/d)

Full time, for a maximum of 4 years. The remuneration is in accordance with TV-L 13.

YOUR TASKS

• Fundamental research on topics related to the Institute for Data Science Foundations
  
• Publication of research results in high-impact journals and their presentation at relevant computer science / mathematics conferences
  
• Commitment to teaching and knowledge sharing tasks at the Institute for Data Science Foundations
  
• Supervise courses (especially exercises) and student theses
  

YOUR PROFILE

• Completed scientific university studies, in particular in the subject area/s mathematics, computer science, or comparable
  
• Very good communication skills in English for publications, lectures and project meetings
  
• In-depth knowledge within the following areas is a major advantage: 
  o Data science, artificial intelligence and/or robotics 
  o Machine learning (supervised learning, deep neural networks, statistical learning theory, reinforcement learning) 
  o Strong mathematical background, for instance in at least one of the following fields: probability theory, functional analysis, differential and/or algebraic geometry, information theory, information geometry
  
• The following knowledge is an advantage: 
  o Experience in scientific writing of technical articles 
  o Experience using simulation tools for the implementation of learning rules 
  o Solid experience in Python, PyTorch and/or TensorFlow programming
