We have an opportunity to appoint two doctoral students to work on a research project in Health Data Science. This research will explore Explainable AI (XAI) in the context of decision support systems for Healthcare.

There is funding to support the students for two years starting from January 2023. This means an interested candidate must be prepared to finish the doctoral work in two years. The funding will cover tuition and monthly allowance as a Research Assistant).

Qualification: Master's degree in Computer Science / Data Science/ Information Technology (Core)

The following capabilities are required:

- Demonstrable expertise in Machine Learning using Python Frameworks (Core)

- Software Development/ Computer Programming (Angular / Java / Python) (Core)

- Good academic writing skills (Core)

-Knowledge of NLP/ Semantic Web/ Ontology Engineering (optional)

International candidates (with non-South African qualifications) must have obtained SAQA certification at the time of application.
