It is my pleasure to announce this opening for a PhD student position at the Autonomous Systems Laboratory of the University of Agder, Norway. 

The target research activities are carried out in close cooperation with 13 researchers from the University of Agder, the University of Vigo, TU Delft, the Indian Institute of Science, the University of California San Diego, and Gradiant, and aims at developing the technology of autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with onboard base stations that navigate throughout the airspace to provide network connectivity in areas where it is weak or nonexistent. 

This PhD position involves both fundamental contributions as well as application-specific developments.

Needless to motivate the potential and timeliness of this exciting research topic, which combines machine learning, artificial intelligence, and UAV applications.
