This is a call for applications to a vacant PhD position (50% E13, duration 3+x years) at the Mathematical Institute of Leipzig University under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Max von Renesse. The position is to be filled as soon as possible, depending on  the candidate (m/f/d).

Research topics may include stochastic (partial) differential equations, interacting particle systems, or optimal transport theory with applications in physics, geometry or data science. Successful candidates are invited to seek membership in the joint  graduate school IMPRS of the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Science (MPI-MIS) and the University of Leipzig.

Applicants should hold a recent MSc or Diploma degree in Mathematics or Physics, preferably with a strong background in at least one of the fields stochastic processes, mathematical statistics, PDE or geometry.
