The University of Technology Nuremberg (UTN) is a new and unique kind of university that has been established in Germany with the aim of providing a fully digitalized campus that is interconnected with industry and society. The major research focus of the candidates should be in one or multiple current areas of Machine Learning such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, supervised, unsupervised, semi-supervised learning, neural architecture search, or embodied learning.

To be eligible for this position, applicants must have a university degree and demonstrate aptitude for research, usually demonstrated through a doctorate or equivalent scientific qualification. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate additional scientific achievements beyond their doctorate and have pedagogical aptitude. Proven interdisciplinary research and teaching experience is desirable. The UTN expects participation in all teaching activities at the Department of Engineering and cooperation within and across departments. The position is suitable for severely disabled persons, and women are encouraged to apply following the Bavarian Equal Opportunities Act.

The appointment will be made in accordance with German public sector employment law and applicants must be younger than 51 years of age at the time of the appointment. However, an appointment as a professor with a public-sector employment contract is possible.
